Sian & Paul

Hello Expectant Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read about us and our story!

We are so honored that you are considering us for this immeasurable gift. We do not take lightly what you are considering, and your courage and sacrifice are not lost on us. We hope you know that you are strong, whatever you decide to do.

As excited as we are to one day, hopefully, welcome a baby into our lives, it is just as important to us that you have agency over you and your baby's future, and peace about your decisions.

Let us introduce ourselves, we are Sian and Paul.

We would describe ourselves as fun, adventurous, and joyful. We asked a few friends to describe us, and they said caring, community-building, silly, soft-hearted, ambitious, and dependable.

We have been married for a little over four years. We love and support each other no matter what.

After dealing with multiple pregnancy losses, we decided to explore other ways to grow our family. We know we have so much love and commitment to offer, and we believe every child deserves a loving and supportive home. This led us to explore and ultimately choose to adopt.

The idea of providing a safe and nurturing environment, of watching a child grow and thrive, and of sharing all of life's joys and challenges fills us with immense excitement.

Let me introduce Paul - From Sian

I might be biased, but Paul is my favorite. He is remarkably caring, smart, and thoughtful. My favorite thing about him is that he is one of the most intentional people I know. He not only shows up in the details but goes above and beyond, whether it is noticing your favorite food or planning every detail for a trip.

I always admire how hardworking he is and how, once he commits to doing something, nothing will stand in his way of reaching his goal. Paul will bake you a cake for your birthday, and plan his run to go by the store because you said you wanted chips and dip.

He will be the best dad. He is the first to sit on the floor to play with the kids, build puzzles, or make faces to get a giggle from a baby. I love how he is so consistent, grounded, and takes things in stride, especially when everything seems to be crumbling. He helps me keep my feet on the ground (or return to ground when I have lost sight of it).

Fun facts about Paul

  • Paul was born in Seoul, South Korea, and he immigrated to Georgia to live with his Aunt and Uncle’s family when he was 13 years old.
  • he cares deeply about his friends and family, and, though he is an introvert, he loves parties or social events.
  • Paul will watch the same shows on repeat - often Modern Family, Friends, and Parks & Rec.
  • He is a physician who works with adults, babies, and children who are admitted to the hospital. He gives his whole self to his patients and works hard to ensure they get the care they need.

Say Hello to Sian - From Paul

When I first met Sian, we clicked right away, and there was something more than just the first date.

She is one of the most caring, thoughtful, and intentional people I know. Whether she is going on a walk with her best friend and her toddler or driving three hours to care for her mom after her surgery, Sian is that friend you would call if you need emotional support or just someone to talk to in the middle of the night.

I love her emotional intelligence. She always says, “You can have multiple emotions at the same time!” I know she would be a great mother, as I have seen her support and care for those she loves. She would be there for her child physically and emotionally, and would be a strong foundation for our family.

Fun facts about Sian:

  • Sian was born in Cape Town, South Africa, and grew up there until she was 6 years old.
  • Her name, pronounced Sh-ann, is Welsh for Jane, and her parents wanted a unique name (and she got it!)
  • She has driven the Great Ocean Road Coast in Australia by herself and held a Koala!

About Our Home and Neighborhood

Our home is warm, welcoming, and open. We hope everyone who comes through our door feels a sense of peace, rest, and love.

We spend most of our time on the main floor with the kitchen, dining room, and living room. We cook together, rewatch favorite TV shows, and chase Zozo around the couch. Most nights, we eat dinner together at the dining room table.

We dream about a nursery on the second floor down the hall from our room, a play space in the basement with stacks of books, a pile of Legos, or a dollhouse, and a water table in the backyard.

We live in a quiet neighborhood in a large, vibrant city known for its outdoor spaces, and we are lucky to have so many parks, trails, and playgrounds in our neighborhood. We are also within walking distance of the elementary and middle schools.

Our family rhythms & traditions

  • Most days, after we both wrap up work, we go for a long walk around our neighborhood with Zozo, our dog. This rhythm gives us time to share how our days went and transition into the evening.
  • Every Christmas, we go to the Christmas tree farm to pick out the perfect Korean fir (we take it very seriously) and then drink hot cocoa around their outdoor bonfire.
  • During the summer, we often bike to the nearby park with a waterfall and a small restaurant to eat a basket of French fries.

Our Promises to You

We promise to read books before bed, as Sian did with her parents, and teach them to ride a bike, as Paul did with his parents.

We want to make cupcakes and laugh about the flour that ends up everywhere. We want to plant flowers in the garden and watch them discover the beauty of nature.

We promise to show them our favorite spots in the world – Copenhagen, Seoul, and Cape Town – and allow them to discover their own favorites.

We promise to guide and love a child as they navigate the process of growing up and discovering who they are. Cheer them on as they chase after their passions and welcome them back home if the world knocks them down.

We promise to invite you to be in your child's life. To welcome you into our home and to share the big celebrations with you. We promise to share as many photos and videos as you want to receive.

Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us, our family, and our community. Words cannot express how much we admire your courage and your love for your child. We wish you the best as you navigate the path ahead.

With gratitude,

Sian & Paul
