Dear Expecting Mother/Parents,
We are so grateful that you have taken the time to learn more about the two of us! We recognize that the choice you are making is not an easy one. Entrusting your child to be raised by someone else takes great strength and courage and we want to acknowledge our gratefulness for these traits in you. Our hope is to build an open and transparent relationship with you so that your child understands their culture and where they came from. We are both committed to an open adoption that ensures a continued relationship with, and knowledge of, birth parents, extended family, and culture(s). If desired, we would like to have you in your child’s life so that they truly get to know you as they grow up.
We are beyond excited to become adoptive parents for a second time and to integrate another child into our family. We currently have one son Asher, whom we adopted through A Act of Love in January 2021. He is a curious, outgoing, sweet, and a giggly little boy. We have always known we wanted to grow our family and are looking forward to providing your child with all our love and support.
Our home is in a residential area of a city in the mid-Atlantic. The neighborhood is full of young friendly families with small children with two large parks with playgrounds nearby as well as a pool two blocks away. Most of our family lives within a two-hour drive of our home and looks forward to being an active part of your child’s life – through holiday traditions, family events, and vacations. Our son Asher is also very excited to be a big brother and looks forward to - in his words - “show them how to play”. We have many close friends nearby and within our neighborhood who have just had, or are expecting children, and look forward to playdates and activities such as walks, story time at the library, and baby sensory classes.
We are a very active and activity-oriented family. We enjoy outdoor activities such as playgrounds, pool time, trips to the zoo, museums, and picking fruit at pick-your-own farms, play dates, and trampoline parks. As a couple, we enjoy hiking, skiing, kayaking through wetland ecosystems, attending outdoor jazz and art events, traveling to new places, having board game nights with friends, participating in book clubs, and exploring new restaurants when Asher’s Nana visits.
Mike looks forward to accompanying your child to sports and club outings, playing video games with them, patiently helping them with their homework and school projects, and teaching them how to play musical instruments. Steven is excited to read stories at night to your child, teach them all about plants and growing food in the garden, taking them on bike rides along the nearby river, showing them how to fish, and tucking them into bed at night. We hope to share these activities and hobbies with our children while also helping them to explore their own unique interests and talents.
