Dear Birth Parent,
Your qualities of courage and love are incredible. We have a deep respect for birth parents, and for you. We want you to know that we think of you often and pray for your well-being and peace of mind. The greatest act of love we have witnessed in this life came from the birth parent(s) of our two sons. Adoption is a gift we treasure.
We are excited to introduce our family, express our ideas for staying in touch, and to share our thoughts on adoption with you.
Family Highlights
- We are college sweethearts and have been married for 20 years! We love parenting our two amazing boys. Family time is the best, but we still manage to sneak in regular date nights. After all this time, we still consider each other best friends.
- David is a hardworking pharmacy director, speaks Spanish, and is left-handed. He enjoys athletics (football, and wrestling). He loves the outdoors. David is kind, energetic, and honest. He is a devoted family man and wonderful father.
- Kara enjoys working part time as a family nurse practitioner. In her free time, she plays the piano, writes, and hikes. She loves living in the country surrounded by family and friends. Kara has a great sense of humor and loves unconditionally.
- Nathan is our amazing teenager. He enjoys reading, wrestling, camping, and hanging out with his friends. Nathan is a people person and has beautiful blue eyes.
- Matthew has a big heart and the best hair! He loves soccer, fishing, 3D printing, animals, and building Legos. Matthew is a peacemaker.
- We love to go on family trips. Our travel log includes: The Grand Canyon, San Diego- Sea World, Legoland, the beach, South Dakota- Mount Rushmore, Texas, Disneyland, Yellowstone, Hawaii, Las Vegas, and a cruise to Alaska.
- Game nights are a family favorite! They can get a little competitive, but in a fun way. We love to play basketball, ping pong, foosball, uno, phase-10, flux, charades, and corn hole.
- We like to cook and enjoy daily family meals at the kitchen table. Confession, we make AMAZING chocolate chip cookies. David mixes, the boy’s taste-test, and Kara bakes. Perfection!
- We are major college basketball and football fans. We attend a few games in person each season and enjoy cheering on the wildcats.
- Holidays are so special. We love getting together with our extended family for Easter egg hunts and picnics. We enjoy fireworks, swimming, a parade, and BBQ on the 4th of July. Costumes, trick-or-treating, and haunted houses for Halloween. We have a huge family gathering for Thanksgiving. And Christmas includes decorating, gift exchanges, baking, matching pajamas, and a family service project.
Keeping in Touch
It would be our privilege to connect with you through pictures, letters, and emails. One way we keep in touch with Nathan and Matthew’s birth families is through personal blogs. From their very first days of life, we have posted pictures and videos. We update their blogs with life’s happenings regularly and would love to do the same for your little one.
Thoughts on Adoption
Adoption has truly blessed our family. We feel there is another child who will be cherished in our home. We are thankful this is possible through the miracle of adoption. Please know that your child’s adoption story will be told frequently. As they grow, they will develop an appreciation for their roots and know how much they are loved.
