More about our family!

Our hope is to share our lives with a precious baby, and do everything we can to help him or her grow up happy, healthy, secure, and LOVED BEYOND MEASURE!

A little more About us…

We live in New Jersey surrounded by great friends and neighbors, with several members of our extended families not far away. Jennie’s parents live really close to us and can’t wait to have a grandbaby in the neighborhood! Jennie is a risk manager with a good amount of flexibility in her work schedule, and she works from home a couple of days a week. Andrew is a business consultant who typically works pretty close to home—and sometimes from home.

More about our family!

Unconditional LoveUnconditional Love – Our little family is filled with unconditional love. We are truly each other’s best friend and we are always there for each other in good times and in bad. We each put the other first and love to spend time together. We know that when our baby comes we’ll be like three peas in a pod (Bayard says four peas!). This is us on a giant slide at our country club’s family fun day—exactly the kind of activity that we can’t wait to share with a baby!!!!

Family WeekendFamily Weekend – We focus on taking care of as much of our work, chores, and errands during the week as possible, so that when Friday night rolls around, it’s all family, all weekend: fun, relaxation, and a chance to reflect on the past week and recharge for the week to come. We usually go out to eat, take Bayard for a hike or a play date with a dog friend or a human one, and see friends or family.

Young friends and family membersyoung friends and family members tennisA Child-Friendly Lifestyle – Even though our baby isn’t with us yet, in large part we live like we already have children—probably because we’re so excited to become parents and we have so many fun young friends and family members. On any given weekend, you might find us playing with neighborhood kids at our pool, watching our nephew in his school play, or working with our niece on her tennis game.

Year-Round TraditionsYear-Round Traditions – We love traditions, both the ones that many people celebrate for the holidays as well as more personal family traditions that we’ve created over the years. We see the Nutcracker ballet on the same day every year. Before Easter, we walk Bayard to the local fire company to buy Easter flowers then pick up lunch from our favorite local restaurant – they love when we bring Bayard for take-out! Jennie bakes special treats for certain occasions, like hundreds of cookies at Christmas and hot cross buns at Easter. And it’s not summer until we’ve made a trip to the rodeo and sampled ice cream from every parlor in the area! This is us with Jennie’s parents, sister, brother-in-law and niece. We hope that, many years from now, these traditions will hold special meaning for our child.

Our Warm & WelcomingOur Warm & Welcoming Home – Over the years we have made many improvements to our home, to make it a welcoming and comfortable space for friends, family, and a baby. We love to bring people together and treasure simple good times with those we love. This has been about much more than working on the physical space—it’s really been all about creating a loving atmosphere and extended community in which to raise a child. These are 4 of Andrew’s 8 nieces and nephews with his parents at our house for his mom’s birthday celebration.
