Andrew & Julienne

Julienne & Andrew Dear Expectant Parent We cannot imagine the difficult decision you are facing. We don’t know your journey, but we do know your strength and selflessness and see your sacrifice and unconditional love for your child. We are so humbled and honored that you would consider us as part of your adoption journey. Though the paths that led us here may be different, we want to be on one journey together. Your sorrows will be our sorrows, your triumphs will be our triumphs, your love for this little one can never be replaced or outdone. There is only one of you, and there will only ever be one of you. Our Promise to You Please know that if you choose us, we promise to celebrate their heritage, nurture them, and help them tell their story. If we walk this adoption journey together, we promise to be open with your child, ensure they are aware of your unconditional love for them, and always talk about you with love and respect for the selfless decision that you made. We can’t thank you enough for considering us as potential adoptive parents. We wish you strength, peace, and love! About Us We love to explore because we learn something new, have fun, and always have a story. We also love to bike! Biking allows us to stay active, explore nature, and reduce our carbon footprint. Where we live, the town has tons of bike trails, so we try to use them every chance we get. It’s important to us to live out our values by serving others, engaging with people from diverse backgrounds, promoting social justice, and giving back to our community. We have a cat named Inigo “Monty” Montoya, named after a character in the movie Princess Bride. He is sweet, affectionate, and very smart. He gets walked on a harness and leash twice a day around our neighborhood. Julienne is a counselor and art therapist. She owns her own business and currently works from home. Andrew works as a cartographer making maps that tell stories. We both have flexible hours and can take lots of time off to bond with your baby as they grow. When we found out we had infertility issues we were heartbroken, but we have never stopped trying to make our dream to have a family come true. We want to include you on this journey as a part of our family and keep your special connection to your child. We plan to adopt more children in the future so that your child will have siblings. A Little Bit about Julienne (By Andrew) Julienne was adopted as an infant. Her adoptive parents couldn’t have children and were very excited when the social worker called to say that she was born. Julienne’s parents always talked about her birth family and adoption story, telling her that she had siblings and that her birth mother lived close by. As an adult, Julienne wanted to meet her birth mother and asked the social worker for help. When her birth mother was asked if she wanted to talk to Julienne she was overjoyed! Julienne called her the next day, and they spent 3 hours talking. Two weeks later, we met her birth mother and siblings. It was a joyous reunion with happy tears, hugs, stories, and laughter! She will be able to relate to your child’s experience, questions, and adoption story. Julienne is Half-Hispanic and comes from a diverse family. She values the diversity in her friendships and family. She loves to cook ethnic food. She tells me that in college, she worked at an orphanage in Mexico and taught the children how to make paper flowers. Your child’s cultural heritage and diversity will be honored and celebrated too! Julienne loves nature and the outdoors. One of her favorite memories was spending a summer working in the Grand Canyon with her friend Susan. She recently got to go back there and take more pictures of the landscapes. I think she is a great photographer and has a way of capturing moments and places. A Little Bit About Andrew (By Julienne) Andrew comes from a family of musicians. He plays the violin at church, and his brother is a professional drummer. His dad is a church organist, tunes pianos, and plays the trumpet. He has been an avid reader and teacher all of his life. He tells me that he learned about maps and storytelling by reading National Geographic, books, and poetry with his family. One summer, Andrew helped our friend’s kids write a play for a camp talent show about a young swan who is bullied and sad but finds new friends who welcome and protect him. Your child will be inspired to use their imagination to create and tell their own stories. Andrew loves spending time outdoors. Growing up, he was usually on his bicycle riding around town or hiking a local trail. He told me that one of his favorite memories of college was backpacking in the mountains for a week to study how the landscape shapes people’s relationships with nature and each other. Our Family If you choose us your baby will have a large tight-knit family with 5 grandparents, 2 aunts, 4 uncles, and 28 cousins of all ages to play with! We love entertaining at our home. Family game nights are always fun with our family. Some of our favorites include playing Uno, Battleship, and Yahtzee. We also love doing art with our family. Andrew’s mom makes Ukrainian eggs every year for Easter and holds a workshop at our church to teach children about egg dying and decorating their egg with Ukrainian design. Your child will have many opportunities for creative expression! Our family loves to garden. We grow different varieties of flowers, tomatoes, peppers, corn, lettuce, and strawberries. When Andrew was a child he and his mom planted forget-me-nots in her garden so that they would never forget each other. Your child will learn to garden and plant forget-me-nots to always remember you. Love, Julienne & Andrew
