Tia grew up surrounded by extended family, where community involvement was the norm. She’s always rooted for the underdog and now lives her dream helping families and entrepreneurs thrive in a historic city.

Fun Fact: Grew up on a third-generation farm and rode bareback horses in rodeos

Though raised in a rural area, Bernt has always enjoyed connection with people of all backgrounds. Living in Northern Virginia has been a dream—he gets to help farmers across the country while enjoying all that a multicultural community has to offer.

Age: 3
Loves: Dinosaurs, airplanes, Legos, and spontaneous dance parties
Personality: Curious, fearless, and bursting with joy
Zarina was born after a long and difficult journey, and her presence is a daily reminder of God’s grace. She’s thriving in one of the best school districts in the country, surrounded by friends from all over the world.
Our Family Life
We moved to Virginia three years ago, trusting God’s call—and it was the right move. We now live closer to extended family in all directions (Boston, North Dakota and South Carolina), and have enjoyed a warm, diverse community through church, daycare, local farms, and neighborhood friendships. On any given day, you’ll find us in our wooded backyard—gardening, exploring, or playing with our 80-pound Bernedoodle and curious sulcata tortoise.

Why Adoption?
Adoption has been on our hearts for nearly 10 years, since our earliest times together as a couple. After experiencing losses on our path to parenthood, we feel an unshakable calling to grow our family through adoption.
