Wendy lived in a small town in the hills of Kentucky. She wasn’t close to her parents, and all the neighbors knew each other and what was going on in each other’s lives. Wendy had a boyfriend for a short time, then he moved out of state. Shortly after he moved, Wendy found out she was pregnant. She let Jim know that she was pregnant, and he wanted her to have an abortion to ‘take care of the problem.’ Wendy knew abortion was not a choice for her, and she starting researching adoption. She came across Act of Love Adoption Agency, in Utah and she made a phone call to them. She was so surprised that her call was answered right away, but even more surprised that she talked to someone so personable and caring!
Wendy knew that even though the birth father didn’t want to be involved with her, she could still have the support she needed to place this child in a loving home where he would be well cared for. As Wendy was making plans for the rest of her pregnancy, part of that process was to notify Jim of her plans for adoption. Act of Love Adoption Agency was able to send Jim his legal paperwork, which he signed and returned.
Wendy then chose to come to Utah to stay in the adoption agency housing for the end of her pregnancy. She had a wonderful coordinator, case worker and social worker to help her through the end of her pregnancy and be with her for delivery. Wendy had chosen a family with no children. She was so excited to introduce them to the baby boy she delivered. The family cried as Wendy placed this sweet baby into their arms. She had given them a gift they could never have on their own.
Wendy’s life was changed and so were the lives of her baby boy and the amazing adoptive family she chose to raise him. Wendy was able to move on with life back at home. She continues to receive pictures and letters through the adoption agency and this continues to confirm her decision to place her baby for adoption.
