Counseling & Emotional Support

Adoption Counseling for Birth Mothers

A safe, confidential place to talk, think, and be heard, before, during, and after.

Choosing what is right for you and your baby is a deeply personal decision, and you do not have to make it alone. Our counselors are here to listen, to help you understand your options, and to walk beside you, with no judgment and no pressure. Counseling is free, confidential, and always at your pace.

Ways We Support You

Counseling looks different for everyone. Wherever you are in your decision, there is a kind of support that fits.

Options Counseling

Talk through every path open to you, including parenting, without anyone steering your decision. Your counselor helps you understand what each option looks like so the choice you make is fully your own.

Emotional Support During Pregnancy

Pregnancy can bring a wave of emotions. Your counselor is someone to lean on, process feelings with, and think clearly alongside, whenever you need it.

Grief and Post-Placement Support

Adoption can carry real grief, and it doesn't end at placement. Counseling continues before, during, and after, as allowed by state law, for as long as it helps.

Adoption-Competent Counselors

You work with counselors trained specifically in adoption and pregnancy decisions, so the person you talk to truly understands what you're navigating.

Common Questions About Counseling

Is adoption counseling really free?+

Yes. Counseling for birth mothers is free and confidential. Support may be offered as allowed by state law.

Will my counselor tell me what to do?+

No. Our counseling is non-directive, which means your counselor helps you explore your options and your feelings but never decides for you. The choice is always yours, with no judgment.

Can I talk to a counselor if I'm not sure about adoption?+

Absolutely. Many of the women we talk with are still deciding. Options counseling is a safe place to think through every path, including parenting, before you decide anything.

Does counseling continue after placement?+

Yes. Counseling and emotional support are offered before, during, and after placement, as allowed by state law, including support through grief and the months that follow.

Do I have to live in Utah?+

No. We support birth mothers in many states. A free, confidential conversation is the best way to understand what's available where you live.
