Heather went to a party with her friends one weekend, at a bar, in a hotel. They were having a great time. The next thing Heather knew is that she woke up in a hotel room, her clothes were on the floor, and her body felt battered and bruised. There was no one around. Heather called her friends, but nobody knew what had happened. She was pretty shaken up by the situation since she couldn’t remember any of it. But, she had to go on with life and go to work each day.

Several months later, Heather knew something was not right with her body and she took a pregnancy test. She was devastated when it came back positive. She could not believe she was pregnant. Then it dawned on her that she truly was assaulted the night of that party.

For another few months, Heather was in denial about the pregnancy. She felt like if she put it out of her mind, it would just go away. Abortion was absolutely out of the question. However, in the back of her mind, Heather knew that she needed to see a doctor.

Before even going to the doctor, Heather knew she needed to find some help. She researched adoption agencies and found A Act of Love Adoption Agency. She was nervous as she picked up the phone to call. She still couldn’t believe that she was pregnant and having to make a call like this.

Heather spoke with a very kind woman who answered her questions about adoption and made her feel so much better. Heather also connected with a caseworker who assured her that they would help her choose a wonderful adoptive family and receive the counseling she needed for her situation.

Heather got into the doctor and started talking with the agency counselor. Both were so supportive of her situation and her desire to place her child for adoption. The counselor helped her work through the scenario of being assaulted. Heather felt that she was starting to heal. She also chose a wonderful adoptive family and prepared for the delivery of her baby girl.

Heather placed her daughter into the arms of the waiting adoptive family. Even though the circumstance that had brought her into the world was difficult, Heather was grateful that she chose to give her daughter life and a wonderful adoptive family to raise her.
