Rhonda was in a very difficult place. She had lost her job and had no family around to help her. She had just gotten an eviction notice for her apartment and had no way to buy food. Rhonda knew that it was only a matter of time before Child Protective Services was called in to help her 19 month old son.

Rhonda did a lot of soul searching and decided she needed to look at placing Corbin for adoption. She called several agencies and her call was answered on the second ring at Act of Love Adoption Agency in Utah. She explained her situation and was immediately able to talk to an adoption counselor. Rhonda started to feel peaceful about her decision.

Arrangements were made for Rhonda and Corbin to go to Utah to choose and meet an adoptive family and to help Corbin with the transition. The social workers were so helpful and Corbin immediately started to connect with the great adoptive family and their children that Rhonda had chosen.

Rhonda and Corbin headed back to Pennsylvania where the legal paperwork was taken care of and Interstate Compact paperwork was sent into the state. The adoptive family traveled to Pennsylvania to spend more time with Rhonda and Corbin and continue the transition. Finally, the paperwork cleared, and it was time for the adoptive family to travel home. Saying goodbye to Corbin was the hardest thing Rhonda had ever done, but she knew he was already happy and loved and would be well taken care of in a stable environment.

Rhonda continues to stay in very close contact with adoptive family. They occasionally do a visit. Rhonda was able to find a job and is going back to school. She is so happy that Corbin is in a safe and loving place and that she gets to stay in contact with the adoptive family.

She was grateful that she was able to find an agency that kept her situation confidential and worked with her to find the adoptive family that she wanted for her son. The adoption agency made certain that all of the legal steps were done properly and that Rhonda was a part of the decision making all the way through the adoption process. Rhonda felt empowered and knew that the final decision was the right decision for her and the adoption process was done as she had asked. “Thank you Act of Love for listening to me and my wishes!! I could not have asked for better people to work with!”
