Moving Forward
Birth mom, S was in a very difficult place. She was a recently released convict. She used to have everything going for her: a great boyfriend, wonderful children, a nice apartment and a great job. Then she got mixed up in drugs. Her whole world fell apart. She ended up in prison, and found out she was pregnant. She received the pre-natal care that she needed to have a healthy pregnancy. However, she knew that with the recent choices in her life, she couldn’t raise another baby. She had plenty of time to ponder her choices.
After a long discussion with her boyfriend, they decided that adoption would be best for their baby boy. It was not an easy decision, but they wanted to give their son every chance to be successful in life. They couldn’t give him that right now.
S and her boyfriend researched adoption agencies and called A Act of Love Adoptions in Utah. They were so impressed with the respectful way they were treated. S was getting close to the end of her pregnancy, so they needed to move quickly through the process. A Act of Love was able to help with the paperwork, counseling, and selecting the perfect adoptive family for their baby. S was so pleased that everything was going smoothly.
The time came for S to have her baby. Her boyfriend was there as a support, and soon after, the adoptive family arrived. There was an instant connection. They felt like one big family. S was so grateful that the adoption agency helped her, so she was able to choose this family for her little boy.
Because S lived in another state where the laws required a longer waiting period, before she signed S actually had a day where she questioned if she should place her baby. She asked to meet again with the adoptive family. As soon as they were all together, S’s hesitations went away and she knew she was making the right decision for her baby.
S has been able to move past her prison experience. She has learned from it, and never wants to go back! She is so grateful that her baby boy is with a loving family who will give him so many opportunities to succeed in life!
