Kent & Liz

Dear Birth Parent,

We understand that there are no words we could share that would convey the feelings that you are experiencing.  Adoption is a beautiful gift and a decision that is not entered into lightly.  We are truly grateful that you would open your heart to adoption.

We want you to know that we will love, protect, and care for your child always.  We thank you for taking the time to get to know a little bit about us.

We are Kent and Liz, and both grew up in tight knit families with multiple siblings.  Family is very important to us, and we frequently have dinners during the week with our parents all as one big family. Our families have both been very supportive of our adoption journey, and look forward to the possibility of welcoming another member to the family.

Our Story

We met during college, and dated for a few years before we got engaged.  While we were engaged Kent started his career working for the Government, while Liz was starting off her career in Real Estate/Property Management.

We have a son, Duke, who we adopted as a newborn, and we have two dogs, Flash and Rhea.  We live right near beautiful parks and trails, and love going for long walks with Duke and our two pups.  We always joke about how big our wolf pack will be when we add another child to our walks.  We are a very healthy and active family.  Kent has been playing sports year round for most of his life, and is still very active in several different sports leagues.  Liz played sports all through school, and maintains a weekly workout schedule (Duke thinks he’s her trainer during her at home workouts!).  Duke is very excited for a sibling, and frequently mentions how he looks forward to teaching a sibling how to play and be active with him.

Our Interests!

  • Cooking/Baking (Liz and Duke are mastering the chocolate chip cookie)
  • Traveling
  • Nature hikes, and family walks around the neighborhood
  • Basketball, Football, Baseball, Tennis, Swimming
  • Working out (Family Fitness Day’s)
  • Saturday Night Family Movie Night (with proper movie snacks included!)

What lead us to the path of adoption was that we struggled with fertility issues for the first few years of our marriage.  We knew we always wanted to be parents, and share our different experiences and interests with children of our own.  We were so blessed when we adopted our son Duke, and we absolutely love being his parents.  We are very silly and playful with him, and we can’t wait to be that way with another son or daughter.

We have an open adoption with Duke’s birth mom, and we keep in touch with her on a regular basis via texting, e-mails, as well as social media.  We also have travelled to visit each other several times since Duke was born, and we will forever remain connected.  We are more than willing to stay connected to whatever extent any birth parent would feel comfortable with.

We would like to thank you for taking the time to get to know our family, and look forward to the possibility of meeting you in person. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you so much for the chance to be adoptive parents to your child.  We, along with our family and friends, will love, teach and provide for your child for the rest of our lives.

Warmly,

Kent and Liz
