Dear Birth Parent,
I don’t know how to write this letter to you. I won’t even pretend to understand how you feel. You are envisioning a different kind of life for your child. What act could be braver, more selfless, than that? I wish the words thank you were adequate to express my gratitude for your consideration, but they are not. They simply are not enough. I can’t tell you how humbled and honored I would be to raise your child. I would be sure your child knew that you made this decision with a deep and enduring love. As soon as the child seemed ready, I would start sharing about their past in a positive way. I think a child deserves to know his or her adoption story.
My family and close friends are eager to embrace this child with open arms. To whatever level you are comfortable, I would like to forge a relationship with you built on our common goal of loving and serving this child. I hope this relationship would be one way to honor you. To me, the more people who love this child the better.
Gratefully Yours,
Julie
A little information about the pictures above!
Prague – Prague was probably my favorite of all the places I visited in Europe. My ancestors are from there. Beautiful Gothic architecture, right?
Mud – You’re probably thinking, wow she looks dirty. I had just done the Dirty Dash with a friend. For some reason I’ve always loved playing in mud, all the way back to making mud pies for Mom.
Caught Fish – Maybe the baby will like fishing when it grows up like I do.
Grading papers – I’m about to start my 10th year of teaching. That means I’ve taught over 1000 students so far in my career. I actually enjoy spending my day with those hormonal swinging 8th graders. :). I hope to bless my child with my love for education.
Me and Dad – It’s hard to find a picture of Dad and I with his hair actually combed. Honestly I like it that way because it matches his carefree personality, He’ll be a fun grandpa.
Headlamp – My brother and I like taking the dogs on night hikes in the summer. It’s fun looking up at the stars. Cute headlamp, huh?!
Paris – Can’t go to France without seeing the Effil Tower. It would be fun to go back to Europe one day with my child.
